Frequently asked questions

When do I get my bucket?!

We currently serve most of our residential clients on Thursdays. You will get your bucket the Thursday after you sign up. This information should come to you in a welcome email; if you haven’t received one yet, feel free to check in with kelly@bucketruckus.cc.

I missed my pick up…now what?

We have a free drop site at 1027 Union Street in Stevens Point. If you can’t make it until your next pick up date, you can empty it there. There is a yellow bin there for you to empty your bucket into. We do not provide new buckets for missed pick ups.

Why didn’t I get a new bucket?

We unfortunately experience theft of our buckets. If you put your bucket out and then find that there is no replacement, it may have been stolen. Let kelly@bucketruckus.cc know immediately so we can get you another one. Feel free to inquire with your neighbors; it’s possible that it was mistaken for a free curbside item. If this happens more than once, or you feel your location may be susceptible to theft (like if you are on a busy street), let’s discuss an alternative spot for your bucket!

How do I change my subscription or card information?

You can access a temporary portal by following this link and using the same email address that you subscribed with. Here you will be able to update your card information, change your subscription, and see payment history. Reach out to kelly@bucketruckus.cc if you have further questions.

What’s the black stuff in the bottom of my bucket?

Biochar! Biochar is produced by partially burning biomass, resulting in a remarkably stable carbon-rich material with high pore-structure and cation exchange capacity. These properties make it ideal for absorbing smell, storing nutrients and water, providing a home for microorganisms, and sequestering carbon long-term in the soil (thousands of years). Biochar is a carbon-negative technology, and the material has many useful applications. Feel free to reach out with any questions or comments!

What if I have extra stuff that doesn’t fit in my bucket?

We can accept your extra items for a fee. For anything that would fit inside another one of our buckets, please follow this link to pay $5 for your additional items. If you have items that would fill more than one additional bucket, please increase the quantity to "2.” Please send an email to kelly@bucketruckus.cc to confirm your extra items pick up. Extra items must be in a paper bag or box with no tape or stickers, and please do not leave us a slimy, wet mess to pick up. If your extra items require non-compostable containment, please just communicate with us about that first. For your items to be collected on your pick up day, you must pay and send your confirmation email by 5pm the day before your scheduled pick up.
